Coffee Shop Girl
Despite being up really late last night, I decided to get up early and go to the Xtreme Bean and do some writing/reading. I just wanted to get out of the house and have some personal time. I got myself a hot tea, and sat down to read first for a bit.
This very attractive girl noticed me laughing out loud at the book I'm reading, and I guess the curiosity of what was so damn funny was too great for her to resist. She leaned in with a smile and asked "excuse me, but I have to ask what book you are reading. It must be good, you've been laughing since you opened it."
I told her it was DOUGLAS ADAMS' THE SALMON OF DOUBT. She was not familiar with him at all, so I told her about The Hitchhiker's series, and highly recommended it. Then I asked her what she was working on. Studying for her CPA exam. Not very exciting, but still, it's better than working at McDonald's. Her words. I laughed.
The conversation went on for about a half hour, and I was getting some strong and clear signals from her. You know, a certain smile, a laugh that was a little too hard at my jokes. And she kept asking leading questions to keep the chat going. I kept getting the feeling like she was hoping I'd invite her to join me at my table.
I know, I'm not ready to start dating, but it was nice to be flirting again. It was nice to have a conversation with a good-looking woman who wasn't yelling at me the whole time. I've always had good experiences chatting with strangers at Xtreme Bean. Maybe I should start hanging there more often.
