A Moment of Silence

No jokes today. This is serious.

Yesterday the armored-car-guy who comes to pick up our deposits for the bank was gunned down in the parking lot where I work.

Just that morning my manager was joking around with him in the safe room.

Manager: Why do you wear that vest anyway? It sets off our alarm everytime you come in here.

Guard: I don't want to die young.

Sad bit of irony there. And he even said it with a smile. Light-hearted guy. I had only exchanged a handful of sentences with him in these three weeks I've been working there.

I didn't know him personally, but he was friendly. He was punctual. I'm sure he was a lot of other things too. He might have been a drunk. He might have just been an @hole. I don't know a lot about what he was, but I do know one thing that he wasn't.

He wasn't a guy who deserved to be shot in the face and spend his last moments bleeding in a f**king parking lot.

To you, my friend, I wish the best. I hope you find the afterlife to be everything you ever dreamed it would be.

Enjoy your rest. You more than earned it.
