Tonight four friends and I played a fan-f**king-tastic game.
It's a lot like Simon. **
Remember Simon? It's back, in low-tech form.
This is a great game though, and is actually also VERY fun as a drinking game too.
You sit in a circle, and somebody comes up with a category, and you go around naming things in that category like so:
Joey: The category is trees: Elm.
Ryan: Elm, willow.
David: Elm, Willow, Ash.
You go around like this until somebody screws up the order or just plain forgets something, at which point they are out of the game.
Most lists tend to go around only a couple times until everybody begins to falter, but once in a while something magical happens. Something so great, you must jump for joy when you finally win the long, grueling list.
As you can tell, I won such a list. Ryan. came up with soft drinks for a category. Here's how it went:
Ryan: Nestle Water
David: Tab
Brandon: Squirt
John: Nestle Chocolate Milk
Joey: Royal Crown Cola
Ryan: Fruitopia
David: 7up Gold
Brandon: Mountain Dew Code Red John goes out
Joey: Sobe Power
Ryan: Crystal Pepsi
David: New Coke
Brandon: Vanilla Coke
Joey: Red Bull
Ryan: Aquafina
David: Fresca
Brandon: Brisk
Joey: Sprite Remixed
Ryan: Arrowhead David goes out
Brandon: Gatorade
Joey: Frappucino
Ryan: Coke Classic Brandon goes out
Joey: Orange Crush Ryan goes out
Keep in mind when reading this list that each person has remembered and said aloud the entire list leading up to that point.
I had made notes so I would remember it all to post it here, but I don't need them. The damn game is such an effective memory exercise that I remember it all by rote. I'll probably never forget it. Hell, I'll be on my deathbed and my wife and kids will be holding my hand all teary-eyed and sad but also confused because they'll be listening to me say "...7up Gold, Mountain Dew Red, Sobe..."
BTW the drinking game variation is simple. Instead of being "out' of the game for screwing it up, you drink. After you drink the next person comes up with a new category and the whole thing starts again. Cheers!
