How Embarrassing
My "best audition ever" wasn't exactly as good as I thought.
The man I read for said to me that he wanted me to come in and "meet the producer." Those were his exact words. This put me under two assumptions:
1) This man I read for is the director
2) I am now "director's choice."
It turns out the man I read for was only a casting director. When he said he wanted me to "meet the producer" what he really meant to say was he wanted me to READ for the producer/director, who is the same guy.
I walked in expecting to just have a meeting with the guy. The room was filled with people. There were at least five other guys called back for my role alone, not to mention all the other people called back for the other roles. It was a regular callback, not at all what I was expecting.
I'm not knocking that, mind you. A callback is still a really good thing, and the casting director still said some very nice things about me.
I just feel like an idiot for totally misreading the situation.
Good thing I didn't do anything silly like call my parents and post a very excited blog post.
Oh wait.
Next time, post silly things you do on facebook so everyone and their mother can see the updated feed in real time and laugh derisively at you on the internet.
