Bess mentioned in the comments that coughing a lot is hard on your vocal chords...
yeah, speaking of coughing a lot...
This spring has been particularly bad for anyone living in Phoenix who has seasonal allergies. We had a lot of winter rain, so spring is going NUTS this year. For example, there's this one type of tree that is all over in my neighborhood and they are dumping snowdrift-sized heaps of yellow pollen that the AZ breezes/winds playfully toss into the air. Needless to say, everyone I know with allergies has been kind of miserable lately.
The last few years mine have been very tame, and nothing more than a little sniffle, and some occasional eye itching. But not this year. Oh no. This year is bad beyond words.
Last night they got so bad I had a full blown asthma attack.
I went to urgent care this morning after about 6 hours of not being able to breath properly. They gave me a breathing treatment and after a few minutes I was fine. My lungs and throat were sore and weak from all the heaving, but the whistling wheeze was gone.
Asthma they said. Asthma? Are you sure? I've never been asthmatic before in my life. They were pretty sure. The good news is once the AZ heat kills all the pollen off, I will level out again.
But for now I have to carry around an inhaler.
A pocket protector and thicker glasses are on their way by mail.
They were on back order.
