Things are looking up, my friends.
I got back to AZ and within a few days I got a decent dayjob, and within a couple weeks I got myself the lead in a play.
You can take a look at it at STRAYCAT.ORG
The play is called The Normal Heart and it's the most depressing thing EVER.
It's going to be just over two hours of me yelling and crying. I would love for everyone I know to come and see it, but I'll understand if it's just too much to take. In fact, here's a hint as to the subject matter:
New York
1981
gay
That's right. It's all about the initial HIV/AIDS outbreak. My character is standing smack in the eye of the storm.
Well, more like he IS the storm rotating around the eye. See, at the time it was only killing gays, so the straight, white, religious majority all ignored it. My character is Ned Weeks, the most aggressive and vociferous advocate for the gay community at the time. So aggressive, in fact, that he succeeding in pissing off most of the country including those he was fighting for. His approach was pretty much "you're with me or you're against me, and f**k you if you're against me."
It will definitely be a big challenge for me. And I think I will have to be carried to the car every night after the show, but I think I'm up for it.
